Budapest, Hungary
For over 25 years, the Budapest church has touched the hearts of many Hungarians in the city. Today it is a vibrant city, known for its beautiful bridges, landscapes, and rivers. Budapest welcomes all travelers who look to navigate the city streets. The Budapest Church has remained one of the oldest from the lines of churches. Their main mission is to seek and save the lost. A church with a wonderful heart, centered on Jesus Christ.
Athens, Greece
Athens, the capital of Greece. It was here Paul preached at the Areopagus recounted in Acts 17. Athens was where many future disciples would hear the word of God preached. To this day, amongst the city’s ruins, lies a small faithful church, filled with hearts willing to continue Jesus’s ministry every day in this large city with nearly half a million people.
Tirana, Albania
At the heart of Albanian culture, economics, rainbow colored apartments and governmental activity, lies a passionate group of disciples. Their motivation? To walk in the Word of God like the early Christians, making every effort to glorify Him in their lives. This small city, full with rich culture, embodies dedicated hearts unlike any other.
Sofia, Bulgaria
Midway between the Black and the Adriatic seas, stands a city with nearly 1.2 million people, Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria. Known for its mineral water springs, banitsa and tarator (local food favorites) and its rich history, Sofia is also known for a group of disciples with incredible faith. For over 20 years, brothers and sisters in Bulgaria have been serving one another in love. They look forward to keeping this heartfelt dedication to God, for years to come.
Zagreb, Croatia
Truly a masterpiece of a city! Known for art, coffee, and cakes, Zagreb is home to a group of disciples who love God. Within the lavish city, members of the Zagreb church, originally planted in the mid 1970’s, try their best to stay away from the traditions of churches past. Their focus? To be centered in a personal relationship with God and family. A truly inspired church, they have wonderful worship and children’s ministries.
Istanbul, Turkey
“All this from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” 2nd Corinthians 5:18. A staple verse for the Istanbul church, their heart to live out the desire of Christ, like those in the first century church, remains strong to this day. The members look to share the gospel in a country centered on Islam. Today, roughly 95% of the population is Muslim. Having been home to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, this transcontinental city is the only secular state out of all the Islamic countries.
Warsaw, Poland
A city risen from rubble, Warsaw was once the center of destruction during World War II. Over 85% of the city was in ruins, with its people looking for hope. Today, with roughly 1.7 million people, Warsaw has recovered from its historic collapse almost 80 years prior. In the midst of those memories, there is a group of Christians eager to share the gospel of Christ with others. These Christians, who form the church, look to seek and save the lost in a predominantly catholic country.
Bucharest, Romania
Romania is known for many exciting things, and Dracula is one of them! The beautiful Transfagarasan highway, as well as the second largest building after the Pentagon, can be found in this country. The church there, planted in 1994 with roughly 40 members, is small, yet unrelenting. The members are neither poor nor rich, rather, they are focused on the importance of sharing with one another. They continue to faithfully pursue God’s mission in the capital city.
Kiev, Ukraine
The Kiev church is made up of thousands of members of all ages and walks of life. They are a big family, striving to love God and support each other. They also have a heart for evangelizing Ukraine and the neighboring countries and have trained and sent out many young couples in recent years.
Odessa, Ukraine
The Odessa church of Christ is located in Southern Ukraine, on the Black Sea coast. The church was planted on July 4th 1993, and today has over 300 members. Worship is beloved in this church, and one can tell by visiting a church service on any given Sunday. There is a large mission field in Odessa with a population of 1 million people.
Kharkov, Ukraine
At the midst of the city lies the famous Freedom Square, one of the central points of Kharkov, Ukraine. Look deeper into this beautiful city, and you’ll find a large group of Christians worshiping God with their heart, soul, mind and strength. They believe in following the principles of the bible, and that it has all the answers one needs to find Jesus. They look to build genuine relationships; when one comes to their church, they say, “You will not only find sound Bible teachings, but also friends.”
Dnepr, Ukraine
Dneipr is a city that lies on one of the largest and fourth-longest rivers in all of Europe. The church in Dneipr, Ukraine is comprised of a diverse group of members. In many ways they mirror the uniqueness of the disciples in the early church of the first century. It was established on September 21st, 1997 and for over 20 years God has continued to add to the number of disciples in the city.
Lviv, Ukraine
Lviv is home to world class disciples. A church with many children, it sits in one of Ukraine’s richest architectural cities. The old town, St. George’s Cathedral, and the magnificent market square highlight this large city. Amidst the one million residents of Lviv, are a large number of dedicated disciples. They are loving, focused on treating guests with hospitality, and faithful when trials come their way.
Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine
The Kropyvnytskyi church of Christ is a very active church in a small city in central Ukraine. With a little over 200,000 residents, it is one of the smallest cities from the groups of churches. While small, the church in this city does not reflect it. The women in the church are very active, putting together large events, and finding creative ways to reach out to their friends. Their love and creativity is well known in God’s kingdom.
Sumy, Ukraine
Founded in 2011, the church in Sumy is now close to celebrating 10 years together. Through those 9 years, have been mixed with challenges and victories. Mixed into the long rivers, never ending nature, and marble faced architecture, the disciples of Sumy still have much work to do in a city looking for hope. “If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and the foundation of truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15.
